A Gusty Day For The City of Brotherly Love
May 9, 2008 on 2:38 am | In Pennsylvania, Travel | No CommentsChris took the Amtrak from Exton station to 30th St. for $7, then he took SEPTA to Market St. East and thus began his tour of the City of Brotherly Love. He walked to see the Liberty Bell. It was a cold and rainy day, gusty too so getting there was half the challenge-as the wind kept blowing his umbrella inside out. He was surprised to see the bell was a lot smaller than he imagined. Too big to hug all the way around but smaller than one might think such a famous symbol of liberty would be, but liberty comes in humble packages sometimes.
Next he was off to see Benjamin Franklin’s grave, who Chris learned was the first person to use electricity.
He walked to the Constitution Center, but there were so many kids swarming the place he changed his mind. They were too noisy. So he found peace walking around Chinatown for a little while-or about as peaceful as a wet cold and rainy day can be. He walked back to Market St. East and had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, and warmed himself with a few beers before catching the train back…well, almost back, he realized he’d gotten on the wrong train and needed to catch the next train heading further North and then took that train to the Malvern Station where his cousin was waiting to give him a lift back to his place, then to a Sports bar called Jitters to see a live band, a nice end to a busy day of sight seeing.
