Life is Like a Road Trip
Life is like a road trip
You can choose your destination-
But finding it is a matter of opinion
The roads are filled with twists and turns, hills and bumps
Some roads are detours-
Go too fast you’ll crash
While others are super highways-
Go too slow, you’ll get a ticket
Take the back roads through the country
Or experience the nightlife on a busy city street
Dirt paths, alleyways, or water under your feet-
You never know what you will see
or who you will meet
The scenery is ever changing-
Just like life itself
The road will always seem different-
Depending where you’re traveling from
When it rains it pours
And the objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear
Some roads are steep-
Or the water too deep
Some will get stuck
and rely on their luck
Some will swim and others will sink
Down another road, the story is different
With their cruise control on
They will count down the years
Some are painfully bored
While others quite pleased
Getting lost is half the adventure
But many are anxious to show you the way
Some advice is helpful, while some is more like spam
If you can learn a little from a lot, and a lot from a little, you’ll soon be on your way
Some seek to explore the unknown-
and they aren’t afraid of being alone
Then there are the tailgaters-
Eager to pressure-
But hesitant to lead
Some live off high octane fuel-
Racing into the night
Others need the day-
Because they’re energized by light
Some say life is like a race
But I don’t think that is the case
We spend our lives in different places
Mingling and mixing among different faces
There will be many stories along the way
I aspire to learn from them all-
and share them well
