World Travel Blog

Quitting our jobs was the easy part. Traveling, the exciting part-creating this world travel blog, the fun part. But making money off our travel blog Ha Ha Ha…well would you want to donate any money to someone else attempting to have fun while you’re stuck in some lame job? I didn’t think so.

I am a travel philosopher and world travel blog journalist, at least in spirit. In real life, I am a 20 something year old female whose lived in Bemidji, Alexandria and Moorhead, MN as well as Ashland and Somerset, Wisconsin, and Tucson, Chandler, Mesa and Ahwahtukee, Arizona. Chris, my boyfriend of 6 years, is originally from Muskegon, MI, and he has lived a few other places as well.

Our story starts in Ahwatukee, when we decided to convert our Honda Odyssey into the best travel van we could afford.

First, we had to put aside all notions that traveling the country is something reserved for wealthy retirees…although most of the cops we encountered may have felt otherwise. What can I say? I believe in living life in the now-not saving it for “someday.” Aside from fear itself, my biggest fear is regret.

You may be surprised to learn there are travel options for those with $5,000 or less, including some high quality used Toyota Dolphins and other RV’s without too much wear and tear. I truely believe traveling is for anyone, at any age, with the heart and curiosity to see where the road may lead.

I’ve always loved hearing travel stories, but the reason a world travel blog is so great is because it’ll take you out of the ordinary element of your own existence and show you the unexpected. Almost like having multiple lives, it helps you evolve.

Travel blogs, journals, and even sitting around the campfire and listening to stories-it’s all about the same thing-sharing what’s meaningful, memorable, scary, surprising and inspiring. There is much to gain, nothing to lose and everyone can learn something-even if it’s just serving as a warning to others-“don’t be like that girl- what an idiot,” or “young and stupid.” Some of these warnings are valid, and others you just have to brush off and grow thicker skin.

I think everyday is better when you live like you’re on a road trip-finding inspiration in the ordinary..looking at life as though you may not pass this way again. Scribbleworld travel blog is filled with travel writing, pictures and music as well as amusing observations on humanity with lots of other interesting facts, figures and anomalies thrown in for good measure. This world travel blog boldly takes you across the U.S. in a small van with two cats, through the heart of Mexico City in a rented economy car and around rural North Western Australia by camel, an RV, a 4×4 and your own private plane to see Horizontal Falls from above and lots more. The views are spectacular from your armchair and you don’t even have to worry about motion sickness!

To get started you can click on the map below, choose your destination by place or month on your left, or if you’ve got a topic in mind, go ahead and use that search feature on the upper right.

If you have any thoughts or questions don’t hesitate to give us a hollar or save your voice and just use the comment box at the bottom of each entry. You can also send us a note at life@ScribbleWorld.com

Chris has been working on displaying our travel g.p.s. coordinates on some of the maps below.

We love to travel. Some of our adventures have been on a shoestring budget costing less than $15/person/day while others have been a bit more posh and spendy. If you’re a traveler looking for interesting ideas, places to visit or ways to save money on your travels, you’ll find some good money saving travel tips worth noting here. Remember, your questions and suggestions are always welcome. May your travels be many, down a road filled with inspiration!

Happy Travels!
Sandra & Chris

If anyone has any experience using the Google Maps API and getting it to show polylines your help would be greatly appreciated.

It’s amazing how you traveled all over the country.
It’s even more amazing that you have colorful symbols over a beautiful map representing it!

Keep up the good work my friend!

I did something like this with a friend when i was in college and i still fondly remember the memories. it is not the money and luxury that makes a trip memorable but rather the people you hang out with and meet in your trip.

i couldn’t agree more with John. I think it is something all people should do before they get bogged down by a job and responsibility.

This is the BEST World travel blog I have come across! You guys are great, thanks for the “piggyback” ride, I haven’t had one of those since I was 10, haha. I keep telling my wife we should do something like this, but she’s a skeptic.Oh well, keep telling it like it is. I added you to “my favorites” -I’ll be back.

I did something like this on my motorcycle years ago. I put my stuff in storage then traveled around the world (ok, maybe just the U.S and a bit of Canada), but I had the time of my life! Gas was a lot cheaper then. I mostly camped but got a motel once a week or so. Traveling on a shoestring budget is a great experience to have, builds character, puts hair on your chest :)

What I’d give to be young and healthy again-a lot harder to travel like this when you’re old and out of shape like me-have to do it while you’re young and healthy. Best of luck and thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures!

    Hi
Great travel blog, I’ve enjoyed reading it. If you or any of your readers are going to London I would suggest Hummingbird Cars for London airport Transfers. They are pretty good as well as Affordable, which is always nice for the budget minded traveler. They Provide Transfers from all the five London Airports: Gatwick, Luton, London City, Stansted and London Heathrow Airpots. Keep up the great reporting!

I like what you’re doing. I was alerted to this site as Google lists it as one similar to my own. I lack the luxury of a vehicle unfortunately, but I’m still doing what I can to make my way through every corner of the world. Just finishing up after a couple of months in the US and unfortunately my map doesn’t look quite as crowded as yours. Next stop South America.

Good luck with it all and maybe give my site a visit when you have a moment.
